Certification Process

Being a B Corp™ goes beyond the certification of a product or service; it means meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.

The 5 Steps

Configures the Impact Assessment B

Create an account in the BIAand customize it according to the size, industry and sector of your company. Make sure you have read the requirements for B Corp Certification™ and section Before You Begin.

At this stage, we will verify your company's preliminary eligibility for certification.

Answer questions about the 5 Impact Areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. During this stage, we recommend adopting the legal liability requirement of Company B.

If the score exceeds 80 points, send your company's Impact Assessment B™ for verification. At this stage, it is necessary to make the payment of the Fee of Application.

A standards analyst will verify the practices, policies and processes completed in the Impact Assessment B.

  • If the score is less than 75 points during the verification stage, the review will be closed. Your company will be able to work on improvements to apply again in the future.
  • If the verified score is between 75 and 79 points, your company will enter a 3-month improvement period.
  • If the verified score is equal to or higher than 80 points, your company will have achieved Certified B Company status!

Sign the Company B agreement and make the payment of the Fee Annual Certification Program to formally join the global community of B Corporations. At this stage, you must also make your B Company profile public in the Global Directory.

Celebrate and share the achievement of your certification with everyone who is part of this journey: your team, Board of Directors and shareholders. But don't stop there... also reach out to your suppliers, business partners and the world.

Sistema B™ in your country will contact you to welcome you and help you make the most of this new stage as a Certified B Company.

Remember: certification lasts 3 years, and is renewable.

Prior to this deadline, Company B must repeat steps 2-4.

Please note that the Impact Assessment B must be submitted for verification six months before the certification expires.
